The Pennsylvania state capital has a long history and is based here in Harrisburg Pennsylvania.
This is something we are very proud of, Harrisburg has been the state capital since the start of the city and indeed for short time during the war of 1812 it was the federal capital!
There are two buildings that naturally take up a huge part of our city the first is, of course, the Capitol building itself which is located in the heart of downtown. You will notice as you walk along Second Street all the other streets are narrow running perpendicular until you come across State Street, State Street is a double-wide street if you look down one-way you can see to the river and across to City Island.
When you look the other way that is when you see the state capital! It is truly a design wonder. It's huge dome and pillars rise up several stores in the air. Every day state and local politicians are seen running in and out of the building, it is truly an amazing building. If you like classic architecture you should check out the state capital building it has marble pillars, and huge marble statues that people take pictures of every day. It also has a series of well-known steps going up to the capital. Everyday people run those steps for exercise.

The other building there is a huge part of the Pennsylvania State capital is the governor's mansion located on Second Street it is a short walk from the state capital it was built this way on purpose because they wanted separation of the executive power and legislative branch.

The governor’s mansion is is surrounded by fence and is only accessible through a couple of gate points.
